I’ve been to Shanghai.
Every show is sold out—tickets are hard to come by!
This time, the Polish physical theater company “Mr. Paper Sati” has finally come to Hangzhou!
It is being performed at the Xixi Paradise Art Center.
During the 2019 National Day holiday, a colorful “paper-tearing show” took the Hangzhou parent–child community by storm!

What shape can a thin sheet of white paper take? Is it a long rug? Is it a rope? Is it serrated? Is it a knot? Are they tiny fragments dancing in the sky? It seems as though there is nothing on stage—except for layers upon layers of tiny, delicate white paper scraps.
But here, it seems like there’s everything—gardens, skies, rivers, clouds, the rustling of leaves in the wind, laughter that makes you want to smile, and ethereal, dreamlike music...
The two dancers are like two little elves, playing, running, and soaring in the clear melody and among the paths of shredded paper…
Paper—seemingly alive, it unfolds into countless forms under the gaze of children.
With the company of a piano master.

Live Performance
Pianos can actually be this much fun!
Play while sitting, play while standing.
Backhand flick
Lying down and playing
The children’s eyes were fixed on the piano.
More appealing than toys
That’s how a longing for the piano was quietly planted.
Paper is the object of performance.
Music is the expression of a performance’s essence.
The game serves as a hidden or overt driver of the plot’s progression.
